Ground Penetrating Radar
GEC uses our own in-house GPR to support our geotechnical, environmental and construction materials testing services. We incorporate GIS to accurately document the locations of subsurface anomalies identified during GPR investigations. GPR can be effective at a fraction of the cost to implement more intrusive means of exploration for the following project needs: ground subsidence (sinkholes, pipe failure) location of reinforcement in concrete, limits of buried debris, underground storage tank locations, buried utility lines and possible unexploded ordnances (UXO).
GEC’s RoadScan GPR System provides non-destructive pavement testing that quickly collects continuous pavement layer thickness data at highway speeds which eliminates the need for lane closures and provides a safer working environment and determine pavement core locations and evaluate base and sub-base conditions. GEC is the only entity other than FDOT’s Central office with this technology.
